| MODEL T FORD
CLUB OF CENTRAL FLORIDA
April 2005
Dear Model T’ers Everywhere,
“AN OLD PROVERB – REBUILT: Before going to war say a prayer; before going to sea say two prayers; before marrying say three prayers; before buying a Ford say four prayers!” (Funabout Fords by J.J. White, The Howell Company, Chicago, 1915).
Perhaps it might always be a good idea to say FIVE Ford T prayers before going on a little tour, but add to that a specific amount of maintenance, TLC, lubrication, and go thru the checklist before beginning any trip. Once again we are about to embark upon a short tour on May 21st leaving from Wally and Angie Schneider’s home (1699 Tall Oaks Road, Deland, FL 32720 phone 386-738-5562, email angwal@mpinet.net) at 9 a.m. sharp – RESERVATIONS (call or email Angie) are a must we are going to the Sugar Mill at DeLeon Springs for breakfast – just about any kind of delicious pancakes you want. There will also be a short “follow me” tour and we will stop for lunch before returning to their home. Please make sure you let them know you are coming by May 15th so Angie can make the reservations.
At our last meeting on April 18th Jack handed out flyers for the New Symrna Beach Car Show which was held on April 30th at the airport; and flyers also and invitation to the Shriners car show and bar-b-que. Richard Fortner reported on attending a monthly meeting of the Model A’s of Greater Orlando where they had 26 cars at Jay Blanchard Park for lunch and fun. Gene and Marilyn Roy reported about a show 65 miles west of New Orleans where they toured a sugar plantation, marina and parks. Mike Bartlett told us about a car show in Titusville where she showed his “Shark” speedster at our meeting special guest Laun Beningfield awarded Mike the “Best of Show Award” which was a framed circle of the Apollo flight patches. Les Grooms told us about a tour that he and Carol had attended with the “Crankin A’s” to De Leon Springs and it was hosted by the DeLeon Springs State Park. The tour season is upon us so we are looking for more opportunities to tour the T!
We decided at this meeting that we would change our location of our monthly meeting to the Piccadilly Cafeteria at 1801 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando to the Fourth Tuesday of each month commencing on May 24 from 7-9 p.m. – come early and have a bite of dinner before the meetings.
Richard Fortner our Tinkering Tip Tipster – advised all they should be careful with certain radiator outlet connection pipes that they use as they can be powder coated improperly on the inside and which may come off and clog radiator and engine parts – as happened to one Model A friend.
MAKE a grea”T” day and see you at the tour and the next meeting! Mike Story, President. (PS: Finally got a new computer with new software too – hope that this will be better for everyone – and am backing up my data too!) Coming events: May 21st – Follow Me Tour with Angie and Wally sponsoring. May 24th – Next club meeting at Piccadilly Cafeteria 7-9 p.m. July 17-22 – The Model T Ford Club International 49th Tour Shenandoah Valley of Virginia
