Dear Model T’ers Everywhere,
"AFFORD OR A FORD – Two brothers inherited money, each
received $3,500. Both purchased automobiles. One sunk his all in
a hotfoot Six. The other bought a Ford. In races the Ford refused
to be beaten. They held endurance tests, and the Ford was always
there at the finish. "But," said the plunger, "what
causes all that rattling I hear?" "Oh," replied
the cautious one, "that’s the jingle of my three thousand
dollars!" (Funabout Fords by J.J. White, The Howell Co., 1915).
Angie Schneider gave a brief report about the great time they
all had while out with the Fun T’s on their trip with 10
other T’s to Cedar Key, Micanopey, and the visit to Don Garlits
home. She also said that our club’s tour that will be leaving
their come at 9:30 a.m. on September 27th for a tour of Deland
and the Palm Coast area – approximately 100 miles round trip,
and please call her at 386-738-5562 or email at angwal@mpinet.net
She and Wally also reminded everyone they have plenty of room to
park tow vehicles at their home.
Vince and Gayle Leffler, and Jack and Susie Whitt reported on
their tour in Kentucky and how much fun they had – Jack had
tough luck with a broken crankshaft, and Vince said he personally
knows to make sure you haven’t gotten any grease on those
Rocky Mountain brakes before you go down a mountain -- "IT
CAN GET REAL EXCITING!" Vince and Gayle also reported on our
2 night trip to St. Augustine scheduled for January 2-4 – sign
up soon, this is going to be a fun trip – you can go for
just one night if you so desire. Contact Vince and Gayle at 407-322-2322
or email at glef2322@aol.com
At our next meeting Vince Leffler is going to give a little talk
and demo on the Holley Vaporizer Carburetors. Be prepared for some
interesting T tidbits.
Our club officer elections are coming up in January … so,
if you would like to run for an office, please don’t be shy
or sly … talk it up and expand the hobby with your participation!
Richard Fortner gave us his weekly Tinkering Tip. He presented
us with a very mysterious metal box about half a foot square, and
said everything that we needed to fix or tweak a Model T was inside
of the box. There was some thoughts about pliers, screwdrivers,
etc. – but after a little heehawing around Richard opened
the box and presented us with his VISA card! It was noted that
the print on the card was worn rather thin and I would have sworn
their was some Model T parts suppliers name embedded on the card
too!
Mike Bartlett reported that our Second Annual Model T car show
has been scheduled for February 28th 2004 – more details
to follow and volunteers are needed to help out with this too.
So far we have John Dwyer, Judie Story, and Wally Schneider volunteered
to help. Mike also brought and donated a copy of Model T Ford Service
Bulletins to be auctioned off – there was a lot of spirited
bidding for a while – me thinks someone tried to push up
the price to much and bought it himself! Mike also suggested that
we have each month a different member donate a little something
for auction, proceeds to the club, everyone thought it was a great
idea, and Jack Mahaffey volunteered to bring something next month.
Our very own John "Jack" Mahaffey has been greatly encouraged
by our membership to through his hat in the ring for the upcoming
board elections for the Model T Ford Club International. "JACK
MAHAFFEY, HE’s OUR MAN, IF HE CAN’T FIX THAT T … NOBODY
CAN!!! Vote for JACK MAHAFFEY
In light of our Christmas Party on December 7th – the December
meeting has been cancelled. Additionally, six months out we are
planning on changing our meeting nights to Tuesday instead of Wednesday – same
place – same time.
MAKE a grea"T" day!
