Dear Model T’ers Everywhere,

Someone once apparently said to P.T. Barnum, the great showman, “I understand they make a Ford every two minutes.” And he responded “Well, at that, they are supplying only half the demand.” (Funabout Fords, by J.J. White, The Howell Company, Chicago, 1915)

About half the demand, that’s probably why we have so many of them and seemingly are always looking for another one! Speaking of looking for another one, we have secured the banquet room of Gleason’s Grille, 4270 Aloma Ave, Winter Park, FL 32792 phone 407-673-2342 for our next meeting on September 27th starting around 6 p.m. for dinner and meeting at about 7 p.m. I have planned also for us to have a couple of party trays at the club’s expense for your enjoyment too. Attached is a map that will show you where Gleason’s Grille is located at the Winter Park Palms shopping center. For those of you who have access to the internet please use www.mapquest.com to locate -- but please note that Gleason’s is at the corner of Aloma (426) and Howell Branch Road – not where mapquest puts their star.

We have also been able to reserve the Casselberry Library of Seminole County on Oxford Street (where we used to meet in the large room) starting on October 13th at 7 p.m. and every second Thursday thereafter: November 10, January 12th and February 9th. Thanks to Mike Bartlett who made the arrangements for us at the Library and to Bill Hobson for scouting for us too.

On September 18th at about 12 p.m. we have all been invited to Ron and Shirley Hood’s ranch in St Cloud for the Model A’s annual roundup and games. The A’s will be competing for their own prizes. Please bring a picnic lunch, lawn chairs for your family, and drinks will be provided for us by the Model A’s of Greater Orlando. Here is a great opportunity for you to show off the elder sisters to these A’s by bringing your T. A lot of the Model A’ers are very curious about the T’s and we have some of our own members who have both T’s and A’s – maybe we can get a few more interested too.

Jack and Susie Whitt have reserved 15 rooms in Homasassa at the Bella Oasis Inn for our tour on October 22-23rd. The Bella Oasis Inn is just north of the Springs Welcome Center on highway 19. Susie says if we have 15 rooms or more the fee will be $70 for a room with 2 double beds. If we have less than 15 rooms the fee will be $75. All king size bed rooms will be $85 no matter the amount of rooms we take. The number to call is 352-628-4311 mention the Model T Club, ask for Carrie or Brenda. That will be for Saturday night, October 22. We will meet at Jack and Susie’s where we can leave our trailers on October 22nd at 9 a.m.
