Dear Model T’ers Everywhere,

"Why is it called a Runabout?" "Because it will run about a mile without stopping!" (Funabout Fords by J.J. White, The Howell Co., 1915).

Our Model T Christmas Party will be held on Sunday afternoon December 7th at 4 P.M. at Barney’s Steak and Seafood, 1615 East Colonial Drive in Orlando. Your dinner includes a choice of Roast Prime Rib Au Jus, Filet Mignon, NY Strip Steak, Scampi Flamingo, Stuffed Shrimp with Crabmeat stuffing or Chicken Marsala. You also have a choice of Soup of the day, salad bar, caesar salad, or house salad; and a choice of baked potato, steak fries, whipped potatoes or vegetable of the day. With beverage choices of coffee, Tea or a soft drink. For deserts we have a choice of Chocolate Mousse, CHEESECAKE, keylime pie, or banana cream pie. Cost is $33 per person. Our thanks to Joe and Nancy Kaiser for setting up our Christmas party again this year.

There will not be a club meeting in December except for our Christmas Party.

Vince & Gay Leffler are sponsoring our next tour on January 2nd (Friday) – January 4th in St. Augustine and we will be staying at the Monterey Inn. The motel is directly across from the old Castillo de San Marcos fort. Our cars will have reserved and secure parking. Trolley Tours drop off and pick up at the motel and it is within walking distance of the Spanish Quarter and many excellent restaurants. Call the Monterey Inn at 904-824-4482 to make your reservations, rates are $79 for one king size bed or $89 for two double or queen beds – the motel is very popular so please make your reservations as soon as possible. We will meet at the Leffler’s farm at 9:30 a.m. located at 964 State Road 415, New Smyrna Beach and leave at 10 a.m. and drive about 85 miles each way. Vince and Gay have plenty of room for us to park our tow vehicles and trailers at their farm. We have even received inquires from as far away as Ohio to participate! Our club officer elections are coming up in January … so, if you would like to run for an office, please don’t be shy or sly … talk it up and expand the hobby with your participation!

At our meeting this month Gene Roy and Mike Barlett reported on the Shriner’s Car Show in Maitland – Gene showed his Roadster and Mike his Runabout. Gene & Marilyn Roy also participated in the Glidden Tour and gave a nice report on that event too. Lester & Carol Grooms told us about the great tour they had on the Natchez Trace that totaled 1175 miles with absolutely great weather and a beautiful tour. The Lefflers told about their trip to Flywheeler Park and what a super time they had – also we encouraged everyone that has not been to go the next Flywheeler Park event – so much fun – check them out on Gayle Smith invited everyone up to a monthly car show in Leesburg where he won a nice prize with his 27 T Roadster Pickup – call or email Gayle at 352-728-8146 or Esmith2279@aol.com Mike Bartlett said everything is coming along nicely for our 2nd Annual Model T Car Show and Swap Meet that will be held at J. Blanchard Park on February 28th from about 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. – ALL Model T’ers from any club are invited – if you know someone that has a Model T invite them – Orange County Park Service is very enthusiastic and supportive and will be printing the flyers and providing the awards, and vendors for refreshments – call or write to Mike at 407-366-5616 or TCPORL@Bellsouth.net for more information.

We auctioned off a set of transmission magnets, thanks to Wally Schneider for donating, and I believe there was also a genuine wrench that was donated and auctioned too – all proceeds to the club – thanks folks for your generous donations.

Joe will also be happy to add any pictures of you and your cars to the website if you will send them to him – he also asks if you would give them to him on disk which makes it much easier to put them on the website.
