| MODEL T FORD
CLUB OF CENTRAL FLORIDA
November 2005
Dear Model T’ers Everywhere,
Our next meeting will be on November 10th at 7 p.m. at the Jean Rhein Casselberry Library of Seminole County, 215 N. Oxford Road, phone 407-665-1500. At this meeting we will be holding a little club wide auction of Model T parts and paraphernalia to raise some funds for the club. So if you have a few parts in the barn/garage that you would like to donate or split the profits with the club bring them on and bring some cash or checkbook you never know what you’ll find – see Richard Fortner about using his credit card too -- no other credit card will be accepted!! Sue Restich, our food coordinator for our Christmas Party on December 10th, reported the following menu from Bodacious BarBQ: Smoked BarBQ chicken, sliced BarBQ beef, ½ sliced pork in sauce and ½ seasoned pulled pork; baked beans; potato salad; fresh baked rolls with butter; and unsweetened tea and lemonade. Club members will furnish desserts. We will also be collecting $10 from each one that plans to attend our annual Christmas Party at Ft Christmas or you can mail it in to Wanda Johnson, 1173 Palos Verde Drive, Orlando 32825. Please make your checks out to the Model T Ford Club of Central Florida. Various members discussed their visit to the AACA Hershey, PA swap sale. This was Jack Mahaffey 34th visit to Hershey, and John Dwyer’s 22nd. This show is so large that you could assemble a Model T from the parts at the show. If you are a member of the Hershey’s AACA club, you get to use a golf cart for transportation. All others have to walk for miles. (It’s the biggest car parts sale in the USA.) Sales are on the honor system. If the owner of the parts you need isn’t present, you leave the money, and take the parts. Over 870 lots of literature were auctioned off at the show this year. John Dwyer told us about the Defecator II Car that he saw at Hershey. It was a golf cart with an outhouse on it. The headlights were two plungers. John told us we could do research at the AACA Library in Hershey. All you have to do to get in is to show them your drivers license, and tell them what you want research. They will pull material to help you. Mike Story reported that the Model T Ford Club International has put a collection of over 600 pieces of Model T literature Pre-T through post 1927, Accessory Bodies, and Canadian Literature on three DVDs. The full set for is available for $149.95. Our very own Gene Roy helped judge the terrific cars on display at the Hershey AACA meet. Of course the Hershey chocolate factory tour is marvelous. You get to sample free chocolate. The Dutch Pennsylvanian restaurants and Amish serve terrific food. Make your reservations now for next year’s show if you want a nearby motel room. Wally Schneider is setting us up with a little tour to see a private collection of antique autos in New Smyrna Beach in the near future, and Angie and Wally told us all about the Antique Automobile Club of America’s November 25-26 Ormond Beach Gaslight Parade, Block Party and Antique Car Show. You can get more information at www.aaca.org/volusia or contact Dan Smith who is the Show Chairman at 386-441-7793. Don Larson reported he bought a Model T Touring car that’s in New Jersey. He still needs sponsors to help defray the costs of his cross country tour from NY to Washington. Phone: 407-679-5505. Mike Bartlett reported he had also bought a touring to restore too. We all look forward to seeing these “new” T’s on the road soon. The following advice was offered about the purchase of a Model T: If you have an open title, put your name on it before you get to the
licensing bureau. If you don’t, the DHSMV will reject it. MAKE a grea”T” day! Mike Story, President
