Dear Model T’ers Everywhere

What a wonderful Christmas party we had at Barney’s Steak House here in Orlando – many thanks to Nancy and Joe Kaiser who not only set it up for us but produced a great calendar for each of us with color pictures of us and our grand old T’s on each page – superb job! With at least 44 people present there were lots of T tales to be told. Mike Bartlett was presented an unusual wooden device that had no moving parts to hurt him but might – if used properly keep him from running out of gas! An award is being held in absenta (not late this time) for Jimmy Cantrella III as our Driver of the Year when he placed 1st in the driving competition at the Model A’s of Greater Orlando Roundup with his very hot (boiling hot!!) 1914 Speedster. 2nd place was awarded to Richard Fortner in his 1920 Roadster – WELL DONE to you both! It was a lot of fun explaining what those three pedals are for to those Model A’ers! Since then we have had at least two members of the A club that are searching for their very own T!!!!

There could probably be no greater gift to us as Model T fans this year than a Model T sooooo ….. "A thrifty housewife saved all of her empty cans and after a quantity had accumulated, shipped them to Detroit. After a few weeks she was delighted to receive the following letter: "Dear Madam: In accordance with your instructions we have made up and are shipping you today one Ford. We are also returning eight cans which were left over." (Funabout Fords, by J.J. White, Chicago, The Howell Company, 1915)

Our next meeting will be on January 8th 2003 at 7 pm at the Casselberry Seminole County Library. We will be electing new officers for 2003: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Director and Tour Director. Volunteers are solicited too. Additionally, we will be finalizing all of our plans for the January 18th, 2003, our very first Model T Ford Club of Central Florida Car Show and Swap Meet; headed up by our very own Mike Bartlett – he can be reached at 407-366-5616 or email at tcporl@bellsouth.net to sign up.
